Here beats one of the artistic hearts of Krakow. Małopolski Ogród Sztuki is an open place for artists looking for a new theatrical language and new ways and forms to reach the public. This is the most experimental space of the Julisz Słowacki Theatre in Krakow.

Małopolski Ogród Sztuki is located in the place of former popular theatres and technical studios. This former roller skating rink and horse riding arena was converted into Teatr Ludowy (Ludowy Theatre) in 1906. Later, city theatres and music halls operated here. In 1931, the building was turned into a storage space for the decorations and props of the Julisz Słowacki Theatre. During the War, the Germans used the building as a warehouse. From 1946, it housed the stage design studios of the Julisz Słowacki Theatre (Teatr Stary (Old Theatre) also used them). Due to its poor condition, the building had to be completely renovated or revitalised. Finally, it was decided best to rebuild the building according to the winning design by K. Ingarden and J. Ewa Architekci sp. z o.o. The works lasted from 2010 to 2012. A modern cultural facility was built, which was in turn one of the city's most architecturally interesting buildings. Its spectacular, five-storey structure combines historic elements with modernity. Behind the glass façade, you can see a reconstructed fragment of the wall of the original building.
