Maria Ritter was named Nowy Sącz’s priestess of art. It is in the artist's family home, in the paintings of which Nowy Sącz has appeared many times, that you can admire her works and feel the atmosphere of the bourgeois interiors of an old tenement house.

The historic Ritter tenement house from the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries is a place where you can not only travel to a world of art, but also into the past. The Gallery of Maria Ritter occupies four rooms on the first floor of the house. In the first room, you can find a monographic exhibition of the paintings by Maria Ritter, an outstanding painter from Nowy Sącz and original elements of her studio equipment (workshop materials). The corner lounge, the so-called ”green” room, is kept in the character of a 19th century Biedermeier interior, with the only 20th century elements in it being portraits by Ritter. Next, the white living room shows the atmosphere of the old apartments. It is equipped with light furniture, appliances and paintings, including canvases by Feliks Hanusz – one of the first academically educated painters from Nowy Sącz. The exhibition finishes in a bedroom in the style of Ludwik Filip with Viennese portraits of the painter's grandparents – Feliks and Józefa Ritter. Family memorabilia and pieces from this tenement house and other houses in Nowy Sącz were used to decorate the interior.
